Update: My sleuthing could be faulty (since this is so not what I do for a living) but it appears that Mr. Sifry may have actually used his very own Technorati search function to find my blog. Maybe he’ll tell me so I can make sense of the ‘sphere.

I posted this about splogs and it appears that David Sifry, founder and CEO of Technorati, used Talkdigger (which I figured out by looking at my Sitemeter info) to locate where in the blogosphere those Umbria numbers are being discussed. He left a comment at my post and I’ve emailed him to request that if he comes up with a refutation of the numbers, to please let me know so I can post that too.

    Hi Mrs. Miller,

It is quite interesting to see that David use Talk Digger. Are you sure that he is the one that found this entry via Talk Digger? In a case or another, I am quite proud that you found it :)

    Take care,

    Salutations,

    Fred

Hi Fred – I’m actually Ms. Zimon, but I know you meant me. :)

Correct you are – it was not talkdigger.com. In an email from Mr. Sifry, he told me that he found me via his “Technorati watchlist.”

And you are, I presume, the founder or a creator of talkdigger? (again, information I gleaned with my admittedly rudimentary sleuthing abilities)

Thank you for reading and commenting.

Of course I used Technorati to find your blog post! :-)

And I found this one as well.

Technorati makes it really easy for you to create a watchlist for ANY search, so that you can stay constantly updated whenever someone talks about something you care about (like Technorati, in this case!)

Simply click on the “Add to Watchlist” button on the right hand side of each search result page. It’s that easy!

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Dave

Such enthusiasm! As I navigate freelance writing, I’ve tried to tone down my use of exclamations, so now, when I see them, I know how excited people must be.

Thanks for clarifying, Dave. I do use Watchlist on Technorati but I often don’t have the time to see what’s turned up.

Thanks again for taking the time to read and comment.

I’ve found watchlist so frustrating I finally deleted most of it.

I am also suspecting a “robo-Dave” as the middle of that post looked suspiciously scripted. *shrug*

However, I must thank you for linking to ‘talkdigger’ I like that site and will be visiting often.

Happy Anniversary, Happy Chanuka and Happy New Year (in case I don’t have the chance later whilst traveling)

You’re so cute, Dawno – I see the Robo-dave in there too. The first comment he left on a different post had the authenticity of indignation about he Umbria numbers. This one, devoid of honest emotion (funny how you can devine that after being online for so long).

Thanks for the good wishes – you too. I miss the AW boards – I just haven’t been getting over there as much. But I do check in to see what’s going on and contribute here and there.

You have a fabulous New Year too!
