Well, he called me “phony” (what “John Hancock” of Portsmouth, Ohio wrote is in red, what I wrote is in blue):

When someone 1). makes claims that go against numerous sites and publications and is only backed up by the Vote No on Issue 3 website, 2). makes claims that go against what two candidates themselves just stated at a rally here in Scioto County and 3). creates a fake Myspace profile just to post this comment so He/she can’t really be challenged with her/is identity known… well, I smell a rat.

I will repost what was this phony ID said, but I am blocking someone who can’t reveal is/her identity in a forum of free speech.

If you want to vote for Issue 3, and explain why, that’s great. Everyone should vote.

But a lot of the info you have in this post is just outright wrong. Blackwell is not for Issue 3. Strickland has campaigned against Issue 3. Sherrod Brown hasn’t stated a position on Issue 3. No deans or PTA groups have come out in favor of Issue 3. In fact, OSU, which is the largest public university in the country, specifically recommends against Issue 3.

Karl Rove is behind the opposition? I think not, but hey- if you have evidence, please feel free to produce it.

You are the one who needs to re-visit the OLE and Vote No websites to see who is on which side, because your list here is very inaccurate.

If Issue 3 is worthy of being passed, then let it stand on its own merits. Your attempt to enrich it by providing inaccurate and misleading information with no back-up is an additional negative strike.

Maybe she should look beyond her own Issue’s site and check the facts.

You can read the erudite Mr. Hancock’s original and inaccurate post about Issue 3 here.

What Mr. Hancock clearly doesn’t consider is that hey, I signed into MySpace ONLY for him. I don’t do MySpace. I can’t figure it out and it’s not my demographic. I’m addicted enough to this blog, let alone try to figure out something like MySpace. WAY too much information as far as I’m concerned. I giggled when I saw months ago the Ted Strickland had one – but you know, he has legions he needs to reach.

Anyway, John Hancock – I tried to find you and email you and tell you that yeah, my name is in fact Jill and that you should be flattered to know that I signed into MySpace for the first time ever just to leave that comment re: Issue 3.

I can tell that you really like to think things through and gather information and give people the benefit of the doubt.

Sigh. Hell – who knows? Maybe I really am a phony.

As they say, what. ever.

Clue #2 re: The Day After Interviewee

Filed Under Politics | Comments Off

One of the numerous groups this interviewee leads, assists or gave birth to produced and has available on the Internet state by state ratings about women’s influence and leadership in public life. Not surprisingly, Ohio receied a D minus for women’s political participation and ranted 36th in the number of women elected office.

Likewise, did you know that as of 2004, no woman of color has ever been elected Governor?

If I give any more clues, you’ll be able to google your way to discovering who I’ll be interviewing.

From our own Limerick Savant, an ode to Issue 3:

Learn and spurn

For the voter who’s tried to unscramble
Issue 3, I’ll provide this preamble:
We don’t
need any slots;
They serve “haves” not “have-nots”

And
Blackwell’s made voting the gamble.

Can’t add to that.

That’s what this Nielson/NetRatings report says.

Here’s some info about the report from the Center for Media Research:

Nielsen//NetRatings finds that 36.6 percent of U.S. adults online are Republicans, 30.8 percent are Democrats and 17.3 percent are Independents in a recent release. Nielsen//NetRatings analyst Ken Cassar, said “The fact that the online population is more heavily composed of Republicans than Democrats is principally a function of the Republican party’s higher composition within the overall electorate. This is exacerbated by the fact that online penetration continues to be deeper among affluent households, which have historically skewed Republican.”

Here’s where GOPpers and Dems hang out:

And finally, also from the Center for Media Research’s brief:

When respondents were asked about their political leaning:

With regard to party allegiance demographics, neither party seemed to favor a particular gender or age group. Among racial groups:

Hmmm.

Reason #2 to VOTE NO on ISSUE 3

Filed Under Politics | Comments Off

Because there are even more arguments against Issue 3 that I haven’t explored.

Now, I’m going to do two things with this post: list out all the reasons by category (my assignments, you can suggest others, and a few appear in two different categories) and list links that I never explored specifically, but which provide more reasons to vote no.

There will be one more reason and I will post that tomorrow, on election day.
