I’ve figured out how to bring up the advanced toolbar on a Mac (read here). I’ve managed to bring up the special panel that tells you to paste your Word text into a special box that then inserts it into the WordPress text box (for when you’re writing your blog entry).

But each time I’ve successfully managed to paste that text in (and I don’t actually succeed every time, and I don’t know if that’s because I have to use the Control C to copy or do it from the toolbar), it still doesn’t have the hyperlinks from the text.

I’m working with text that was sent to me in an html document.

Okay – I know everyone is just dying to help me with this. But think of it this way: it’s a mitzvah. A big mitzvah. And with Yom Kippur next week, don’t you need all the mitzvot you can muster?

Jill, I do not use the rich text editor when I blog with WordPress, hence I just cut and paste the text into the box then use the tabs that you will see that are similar to blogger to make it a blockquote or to add the “more” which is the ‘read more feature’.

When I do links, I use the standard a href link, when I am on the Mac or on my Windows. It’s the old fashion way, but for me it works faster.

    Jill,

You need to either copy and paste the html source or manually add the link.

What does that mean, “paste the html source”? Is there a way to show all the source code while I am IN Word, then copy and paste that version into WordPress, in the code box, then go “visual”?

I do realize that I may have to put all the links in manually.

I will try cutting and pasting again with the editor off, but I think I did try that with this text that’s been sent to me. It’s for the All Women Blogging Carnival and it came as an html doc. I also opened it in text editor, and I copied it into Word. I’ll figure something out, I’m sure. :) I just assume I’m never the only one who has had a problem and that others must know more. lol

Ah, didn’t realize you were in word.

When I say html source, I mean where you can see all the p tags and a href tags etc.
I don’t know if that’s possible with a word document. Did it come as an .html file or a .doc file?

My be is you’ll figure it out before you see this post. ;-)

It came as an HTML file.

In this post, you linked to my screencast about pasting from MS Word into WordPress. If you are still having problems, send me your file, and I will see if I can give you some quick and easy advice on achieving the results you are looking for.
