I knew Flory a long time ago and was very disturbed that he would come on to people so strong while he was married. He pretended like he wasn’t even married half the time. He is a slimeball and I hope he figures himself out while he is locked up.

Interesting – the Common Pleas info says the case is closed. Anon – where did you see it on appeal? I also checked the 8th District C/A and didn’t see anything there. Thanks.

My guess is that he’s appealing either the sentence as being too excessive (which, given changes in Ohio’s sentencing laws is nearly impossible to successfully challenge) or his sexual offender classification. It doesn’t appear as if any pre-trial motions were filed that could form the basis for the appeal.

He’s probably not going to win, but considering that he has a right to direct appeal, he probably figured he might as well see what comes of it.

I was checking on mr. flory and discovered in the ohio court docket thing, lol that he has sent his case to the court of appeals……I am so curious as to what he thinks is going to come of this and why he dont just leave it all alone now at this point…any comments to what Ive discovered??

Mr. Flory’s behavior impacted many, many lives, not least of which is his own. As I’ve written before, it’s a very sad case but I agree that the victim’s pursuit of it and the judge’s sentence will stand as significant facts in the case that people who work with victims and offenders can point to as a reason to press charges and to get help before they hurt others.

I think that it is important that the victim’s story got out. Since the beginning of the case there was much speculation about what her side of the story was.

On another note, Erin is in fact divorcing Mr. Flory. I am not sure of their marital arrangements.

I also think it is important to note the amazing courage this woman has had to come forward against one of the rising stars of the republican party. She has seemingly endured a character assassination and has come out triumphantly in putting away a sociopath sex offender.

She deserves a medal for keeping our streets much safer. I am just so sorry this happened to her. I pray God will take favor upon her. May she find herself his beloved.

Khughes re: Erin Flory and staying married. I read elsewhere that she is expected to or is about to start divorce proceedings against Flory. I will also tell you that I seem to recall from some research I did when this all began that she too may have met Flory through college Republican activities. I also remember, when reading about them having a child, that I could not for the life of me find a marriage or wedding announcement and that made me very curious to know if she was pregnant out of wedlock. But I’ve never looked further into that.

Re: KHughes’ and Anon’s posts about bar status. Thanks for that info. Doesn’t it make you wonder how he got past the part of the bar application where you have to be interviewed for character etc.? And the references? I don’t know how rigorous that part is for Michigan, and when I went through it in Ohio, it’s not like it wasn’t easy, but still – the folks who interviewed me for character didn’t know me from a hole in the wall. Would be nice to have a time machine and learn more about what Flory showed for his character portion.

Anon – thanks for the link to the first-person account of what went on the evening and day after the incident, in addition to some other background. The person who wrote that post has been writing in a few places and, frankly, I just can’t imagine what it must be like for them. But I’m appreciative of the narrative. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has wondered.
