I’m just asking.

I saw this information and I checked out the list and I wondered, why. Why are two Democratic Presidential candidates, Illinois Senator Barack Obama and Delaware Senator Joe Biden, listed as “not voted”? All the other presidential candidates who are U.S. senators voted yeah or nay. The third “not voted” is Maria Cantwell (D) of Washington State.

Anyone?

Most likely, they weren’t in DC today.

Why not? :) Seriously – how is it that all the others were there, only three have “not voted” and two of the three are…them. I don’t know – I guess it could be simple. could be…

Well, now, this article says that Biden said that the Moveon.org ad was wrong. Meaning he would have voted with the yeahs, or the Republicans, and not with the other Dem. candidates.

And this article indicates that Obama was in the house, or senate as the case may be but chose not to vote.

So – it wasn’t that they weren’t in the house, or, er, Senate…

22 Democrats voted yes with the Republicans, while I think the whole thing ad and the resolution today were both questionable as far as real affect and if you read the Washington Post today they did a fact check on the ‘Betray us’ ad which demonstrates there were some real factual issues involved, it makes me wonder why any of the Democrats voted no or yes, they should have just not voted on the principle that it was not something that the Senate should have even gotten involved in.

Voting yes makes it appear you don’t support those who are against the war – voting no makes it look as if you don’t support the troops and are supporting the inaccuracies in the Move On ad. Perhaps Obama and Biden were the smart ones today….

I’ve never followed Moveon.org very closely and I would say that most of the time, I’m to the right of them, which isn’t that hard to do. Their tactics don’t usually sync with mine, although the core issues often resonate.

I agree 100% with you about how the resolution was something that the Senate should not have pursued in the first place.

What’s so WEIRD to me? I’m sitting here listening to the Diane Rehm roundup on the Internet and they’re talking about hate speech and allowing freedom of expression, and yet here you have Senators passing a resolution against what Moveon.org wrote.

    No logic.

I think the resolution was in tandem with the set up last question of King George’s press conference yesterday. Loved Olbermann’s comment on that last night:

Its only hate speech if the GOP says it is. If its a thundering denunciation of gay people its freedom of speech AND religion. Four star generals never lie (coughWestmorelandcough) and are just this side of G-d himself. Didn’t you know that? :) Reflexive militarism thy name is America. Again, Olbermann dealt with this as well. As for moveon.org, I, uh, generally find myself to the, um, left of them. Whatever you do, when you run an ad like that NEVER apologize. You’re just throwing red meat to wolves.

So now punning is something that must be officially condemned? What a waste of time and energy. I just sent MoveOn.org a donation and I’d say I’m to the left of them too.

The General has more integrity and love of country than any of the POS politcians…and much much more than any of us lame ass posters here

Keith, I think you’re right about once you do that, you can’t apologize. You don’t do something that big and then say it was a mistake. You do have to stand by it.

Village – agree 100% re: the resolution exercise was a waste of time

    notso – what’s POS?

Jill: piece of s—. I don’t know if you allow cursing on your blog so in deference to that, I put in the dashes.

I wonder how notso (with no link on his name) knows so much about “The General” I’m always amazed at the authority worshipers out there especially those who reflexively lionize the military. I wonder how many of these people ever served – I did – one stint in the USAR. Generally to get promoted above Lieutenant Colonel you need to be a politician as much as a soldier. And promotions above two star are all political, IMO.

There exists differences of opinion withing the flag ranks about their brethren. Admiral Fallon, CENTCOM commander, had this to say about Petreaus: ”ass kissing little chickens—.”

    Again with the dashes :)

Ooo really? re: Petreaus? I hadn’t heard that.

Ah – POS. Thanks – I can really be naive sometimes.

[...] mentioned these “not voted” votes before. Doesn’t it bother anyone? That they don’t take a stand? I don’t care [...]
