Is anyone else frustrated with the number of phone books that keep appearing next to their mailbox? In this Internet and cellphone era, who needs phonebooks at all, besides the advertisers?

Sorry to be so net-centric, but the waste of the paper drives me nuts.

    Shalom Jill,

Until businesses realize that they are throwing their ad dollars into the recycling bin, predatory publishers of phone books will keep piling them up on your doorstep.

    B’shalom,

    Jeff

I just wanted an excuse to watch that clip from “The Jerk.” :)

I have thought of that as well..but I know a couple of people who work on selling ads for the Yellow Pages.

I’m sure! Seriously – how big an industry is it – have you ever heard? I’ll have to do a quick Google. Of course, if we can’t get the tobacco industry to give it up, or Columbia to give up cocaine or Afghanistan to give up poppies…

Jeff – when you say predatory, you’re spot on. I opened my bookstore June 16 and I’ve been fighting them off ever since. The first one got me – naive as I was, I thought all I was doing was correcting the name of my business. I didn’t read the fine print that merely doing that gets you on the hook for a $298 ad that would have done nothing for me. Yeah, I called and raised hell and got them to cancel it but its a real scam. I get a new one every two weeks.
