I just read this post on Ohio Daily Blog and I am so tickled. Dennis was one of my very first friends at Georgetown and we took at least a few classes together – I particularly remember an intro to Conlaw class that I nearly flunked (he was a MUCH better student).

I wish him much, much luck in his race and maybe, just maybe, knowing that there might be fellow Hoyas in the ‘house, maybe I’ll consider running for something – after 2015.

Hoya Saxa, baby!

Two other very, very odd coincidences are that a former law school boyfriend of mine worked for the Murray firm in the 1990s and then one of my closest friends from law school worked at the firm for a few years a little bit after that.  Small world indeed.

Another Hoya (formerly) in the House (the U.S. House of Representatives) was in the news this week. That would be Henry Hyde, who died Thursday and went to Georgetown on a basketball scholarship (link).

Good evening, Anon – Oh, yes – there are a batch of Hoyas in politics – Bill Clinton perhaps being one of the most famous, though not, ahem, from my class.

I had to smile when I thought of Henry Hyde there on a b-ball scholarship – I was there in the Patrick Ewing era. I’m wondering how Hyde thought he might stack up on the teams of the early 80s. Yes – that’s an invitation to get a link from you on that very topic. ;)

There are two Hoyas in the General Assembly right now. Mark Wagoner (HD-46) graduated from G-Town in 1994 and Capri Cafaro (SD-32) graduated from G-Town with a Masters in 2001. Hoya Saxa.

Yes – I scrutinized Capri’s degree extensively last year. Thanks for reminding me. There’s a whole lotta GU grad folks around.

Imagine my surprise when I moved here and learned that there’s actually a college named John Carroll, who founded GU and has an enormous statue on the main grounds.

Hyde might have voiced an opinion on the matter, but I wasn’t able to find it. FWIW, I did locate the Georgetown Basketball History Project, which includes Hyde’s picture from the 1940s.

BTW, I’m the Anon of comment 1; the Anon of comment 3 is someone else.

Thanks – yes – I saw the basketball reference there. Wild.
