Oh I think men and women equally are bored by it. I was very pleased to see how many young women were in the audience at the AAPC/Bliss Institute Conferece.

Yes, I believe the White House Project is trying to connect with Grace Drake for the training next year.

Now – what I want to know from you, Joe, is – how do you feel if guys roll their eyes?? Do you feel the same way – that is, that some talent is lost? Or do you just not find that that many guys you know find politics boring?

I think whenever you miss out on 50% of the population you lose a lot. (we lose out out not on the fact they are women, but their talent) I am always sad when women my age 20′s-30′s, (disclosure: I hit 30 in ’08), role their eyes when politics is discussed. We are losing talented people (many are women) who are never shown the impact politics has on our lives because it is seen as boring. I know former Ohio congresswoman Grace Drake is at CSU trying to get young women interested in a career in public service, I hope it is working.

That’s a beautiful thought – especially if you teach people to value and embrace change. Sadly, I believe, right now? The people who do not value or embrace change – as in, something different from what they know – are getting more air and attention – it feels that way anyway.

If everyone sees things the same then there is no conversation, only an echo chamber.

Introduce differing opinions and you can bring about change.
