Joe Gandelman of The Moderate Voice gets the hattip for this excellent post on today’s celebration of Blogroll Amnesty Day. Joe walks the walk that he talks: he invited me to be a guest voice once, two or so years ago, and then I posted a couple of more guest posts and now, I’m a co-blogger at TMV. The Moderate Voice is also one of nine blogs being fed through Newsweek’s The Ruckus.

Writes Like She Talks doesn’t get enough traffic (recently, a long-time Ohio political blogger tried guessing my traffic and was in utter shock to think it was anything lower than 1000 visitors per day - try more than two-thirds lower, folks) to be considered a blog that could give other blogs such linkage that it could propel them high up into the blogosphere, but I love the concept of what Blogroll Amnesty Day has become. You can read about it here on Jon Swift’s blog. Swift’s post about it from last year details how the concept got twisted and turned like a strand of DNA. Now, however, thanks to the efforts of people who really get how it all should work, the goal of Blogroll Amnesty Day clearly is to promote smaller blogs that don’t get as much linkage as they deserve.  Here are the six blogs I’d like to promote today:

after_enlightenment

Creative Ink

Long Live the Village Green (which I can’t believe wasn’t on my blogroll and I’ve now added it)

Save the Hilliard Schools

Street Smarts

That Woman’s Weblog

Some of these blogs have been around longer than mine, and may even have bigger circ than mine - I don’t know. But they each deserve a very broad audience, and that’s why I’ve included them - because they are unique and represent voices not otherwise being made audible. I feel as though I could say that about pretty much all the blogs in my blogroll - which is very obviously devoid of pretty much every national or otherwise widely known blog often found on political blogs. And I like it that way - except when it comes to being a resource, which is when I give in.

Anyway, I try to link as much as I can though I know once in a while I get lazy, and I always appreciate when others link to me and I try to go and comment to that effect or e-mail the folks who’ve linked to me. It’s just the nice thing to do. If you would like me to add you to my blogroll, just ask. That’s pretty much it.

As for Groundhog Day, read here about Phil seeing his shadow.

Thank you Jill for adding and mentioning my 10 day old blog. I am still feeling the “birthing process”. Henery Hawk of Lorain County Photographers’ Blog and I are trying a “tandem piece” this week I will publish part one on my blog Monday and it will be on his site Tuesday ( my down day), and as you can see Saturday and Sundays I have given over to Link-ups which will give blogs and sites that are “linked” on my ” blog roll” room for their “infomation” or events. Feel free to share your info anytime. Loraine aka THAT woman :)

Oh yes - Henery’s blog is another jewel!! Is that on my blogroll? I can’t keep track!

    I love both.

Jill it’s more fun to read everyone else’s blog than see my own here as a link. I figured Christine’s blog was so popular I didn’t include it! omg. She is so bright and fun to read!

I found two on your list I’m adding to my blog roll, SEO be damned I say. LOL

  9. 9 Village Green on February 2nd, 2008 8:39 pm

Thanks so much for the link, Jill. I immediately clicked over to TMV and realized that has to be added to my Reader and blog roll. Like you, I’m not so much about linking to the Big Blogs — we know who they are read them every day. The whole blogging thing continues to bring the whole world into view in ways I never thought possible. You are a wonderful inspiration!

    hi jill!

    thanks for joining in!

and the great thing about b.a.d. is finding blogs you’ve never seen before, as i have found yours! excellent!

I thought I’d added you clear back in the Plain Dealer fiasco. You are now, but don’t expect a big jump in readership from my piddley-ass site. (that’s not swearing is it?)

  12. 12 Jill Miller Zimon on February 4th, 2008 10:30 am

Hey Chuck - thanks for adding me. I really don’t think much about the blogrolls - people are going to do what they’re going to do. And piddley-ass is just fine - except isn’t it piddly ass? ;)

  13. 13 Dyre42 on February 4th, 2008 6:22 pm

I’ve added your blog to my blogroll. Keep up the good work!

  14. 14 Jill Miller Zimon on February 4th, 2008 6:25 pm

Oy - does this mean I need to have the word “Crapomatic” on my blogroll? Maybe I’m not such a B.A.D. girl after all?

    ;)

Just kidding - thanks and I’ve linked back to you as well in the ‘roll.

  15. 15 Jill Miller Zimon on February 4th, 2008 8:21 pm

Skippy, ROTUS, Chuck and Dyre - you’re all added to my blogroll too. Happy early Valentine’s Day while we’re at it.

I’m late for “blog amnesty day.” Sadly, I didn’t get the memo.

I’m with the program now though and you are linked in at http://www.robsingleton.net

Hi Rob - what a neat looking website you have - is it silly of me to admit that I had to google “Albigensian”? :)

Thanks for finding and blogrolling me - consider yourself added as well.

  18. 18 Rob Singleton on February 9th, 2008 6:14 pm

    Hello,
In honor of Blogroll Amnesty Day I have added your blog link to my blogroll at robsingleton.net. Please link mine to yours in return. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at robtherev@gmail.com. Thank you!
