I think it just means its a slow news day.
I like the use of “sesquipedalian” in a headline on the front page. Classic.

It could just be a bad photo! lol. Being in real estate I browse homes on line every day and some of the photos make me say ‘what were you thinking?’ (one of a filthy toilet comes to mind, but I digress). I think it could be an attempt at an artsy photo gone bad?

I couldn’t quite read the cutline but perhaps its simply the Times’ way of reminding us of the preferred footwear of our corporate masters.

I remember being told several times that in ‘polite circles’ men’s footwear said everything about them – the style, the brand and the shine. Its one of the elite’s way of differentiating the classes. And its also why men of more modest means will shell out enormous sums for a pair of Aldens, say just to make the grade with their ‘superiors.’
