The whole Michigan-Ohio thing? Over my head, having not gone to either or moving here until my mid-20s. But my kids get into it a bit at school. I’ll stick with the Big East rivals, thanks.

Great suggestion re: the parties should be doing that. I’d love to get that gig.

Do you do this for a living (videography)? I so enjoyed this interview! Good points all around. How can Hillary, a smart experienced political operator with smart experienced staffers, make such simple mistakes. I keep hearing about how disorganized Hillary’s campaign is which is really sad – that speaks to leadership. Barack on all accounts from staffing to messaging to pure team effort seems to really be ahead.

I’m suppose to be hitting the road now but you’ve got me hooked on your videos Jill!

I voted by paper ballot here in Cols, 43205. The “ballot” box was handmade with a slit put in to a bottom of a regular type cardboard box.

It had NO SEAL on it what so ever.

I asked about it and the lead worker told me, “Well we were in a rush”. He ended up putting a twisty tie like thing on the box and said “ok its sealed”. Outrageous. I called the Sec St, and Franklin County B of E and reported it. They took my name and contact info and was told by both entities that they would call me back.

Guess what neither did.

The employees were clueless, untrained, except for one guy who had to help the rest out with every single step. There was no privacy for the people using the machines, the room, in the Columbus “Douglas” school was cramped, loud and just a mess.

I for one am pissed off!

Hey–I went to U of M! (And, yes, other than Ann Arbor, Michigan is the land of giant SUVs). My polling reaction was similar to your neighbor’s reaction–not that I like Diebolt machines–it just did seem like a step backwards. An eighth grader asked me, why don’t we just vote on line–and I would have to agree. I wonder what the specifics are to make it a secure transaction? In any case, I would also agree with her comment about disorganization on the Hillary side. I worked the polls on the west side of Cleveland and a Barack canvasser flown in from Oregon stood in the cold with us (Anthony I planted a Rosemary Palmer sign for you), but no Hillary rep. I also received a visit at my home from a young canvasser for Barack from Michigan (!) The Oregon canvasser said that the Clinton campaign pays canvassers better than Obama’s side, but they have more fun. True?

Jill, great piece of work. Thanks for doing this. I’m sitting here thinking campaigns or state parties should be doing this type of exit survey to talk to regular voters and get additional insight that regular polling and research just won’t show.

But let me get one thing straight. Did a woman wearing a MICHIGAN hat just call OHIO backwards?!?! Is she serious?
