Also, somewhat related, I wonder what’s happening with the 24th Senate District. Patton’s opponent raised $435 during this period, but she also returned all those contributions to their respective donors. Does that mean she’s going to be withdrawing and the Dems have her replacement?

Given that Belovich had 15,000 plus votes in the primary, one would think that he could find more than just one resident of the 17th District, who’s not related to him to donate to him between February 13 and April 4 (per his post-primary finance report the only contributors from the 17th were Robert Belovich of Solon, presumably his father; David Repko, an in-law; and Caryn Groedel).

I think this is much more illustrative of the uphill battle he faces than just looking at the raw number of votes he got in the primary.

Agreed, Joe. Granted, it was by a smaller margin, but Roger Goudy also had more votes in his unopposed primary than Mandel in 2006.

Of course Belovich got more votes than Mandel. There was a highly contested Dem presidential race (in case anyone missed it). There was no compelling reason for R’s to come out to the polls. I just hope that is not the case in November. Looks like Belovich wants to truly be a politician putting spin on meaningless data.

Brian – just out of curiosity, he will win in a rout because…why, exactly? What do you believe are the things he’s done in the 126th Ohio GA that support re-election – this isn’t a trick question – I’ve already commended him, numerous times, on his office’s responsiveness.
