Jason Werner ran against and lost to James Trakas in Ohio’s Republican primary race to be the nominee to run against incumbent Dennis Kucinich (D) and take the Ohio 10th Congressional District seat.

From Jason Werner’s campaign website:

I encourage everyone who voted for me to check out the new party, in which I am now involved. Anyone conservative enough to vote for Jason Werner, the man who is bold enough to say he is pro-life with no exceptions, the man who claims he has solutions for our messed up tax system, and the man who is bold enough to say he is discriminate with regard to family, in that he is against homosexuality, should feel relieved with the Constitution Party.

The Constitution Party was formed in 1992 actually under a different name, but later adopted this name with other states joining together. Many people are sick of the fake conservatives like John McCain. And locally, we’re sick of the phony conservatives like my former opponent Jim Trakas (he calls himself a “progressive conservative” though). We obviously do not support pro-murder Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. And supporting John McCain is supporting a lie. At least Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are honest about their issues.

Jason, there are special places in the world for you.  Right now, one of them is in Oklahoma getting to know a state representative there by the name of Sally Kern who has said these lovely things about our fellow human beings.  You should give her a visit, and don’t come back to Ohio anytime soon, okay?

Be careful though.  The local folk in Oklahoma aren’t too happy with Rep. Kern right now.

Speaking as a Republican, Werner leaving is good news. Though his ideas and positions remain an anathema regardless of the party, at least he won’t be dragging other Republicans into the mud with him.

I thought that his campaign was just a joke when I first saw his stances on things. That guy is SCARY!

What the hell does this mean:
“he is discriminate with regard to family”

Is that a typo? Some cryptic uber-conservative, theocratic code word?

Or the rantings of a mind plagued by delusions of grandeur who seem to think getting 5,500 votes (roughly 20%) in a Republican primary in a heavily Democratic district makes you somehow a heavy hitter?

Sounds like a guy who is upset that he didn’t win his party’s nomination and is now trying to run an independent bid under the nomination for an unrecognized Ohio third-party. Someone should tell him he’s not going to get on the ballot in this race as an independent if he voted for himself last Tuesday. I’m pretty sure Ohio election laws have been interpreted to prevent just the kind of thing he’s trying to do to keep his “candidacy” alive.

Maybe he’s not. But either way, he sounds like a very angry, frustrated pitiful shell of a man.

For us in the GOP it is addition by subtraction.

Just like OH-10 continues to elect a man with the intellect of Dennis Kucinich because of his party affiliation, many parts of of Ohio would do the same for Jason Werner. No need to leave the Ohio to find political success, sadly.

If you look at Ohio’s Congressional delegation, most of the members recently fell within the moderate category (as rated by the National Journal).

Werner might spout off what he believes are the talking points, but there is no substance whatsoever behind his rhetoric.

Moreover, even looking beyond his stances, the guy definitely has a screw loose. I don’t know if you’ve ever met him, but he definitely gives off the creepazoid feeling before he even opens his mouth.

    Modern-

I think in Werner-speak, it means that homosexuals aren’t allowed to form family units or be considered a fully functioning family. I could be wrong, though, as I’m a non-evangelical Catholic (which probably qualifies me as a heathen in his worldview).

I’m actually surprised he didn’t try to run as an independent this year. He lost in the ‘06 primary to a no-name opponent.

I suspect he’s going to be a perennial candidate, so I agree this is his way to get on the ballot for the general election next cycle.

I think he should make friends with Sam Brownback and maybe Tom Brinkman?

and steer clear of Eliot Spitzer…

Jason has more than a screw loose, but you are going down the right path. He is a sociopath. He speaks family values out one side of his mouth and commits bigamy, and is a deadbeat dad out the other. While outing him for the disgraceful, nutcase he truly is would be so validating, he himself takes care of that the minute he enters a room.
