Sigh – I always have.  If I ever do anything that makes anyone (John Sayles or Sam Shepard) think of making a movie about anything remotely related to me, please have Laura Linney play me?

From today’s New York Times Magazine:

Can you recite a line or two from one of her [Abigail Adams, whom Linney plays in a new HBO mini-series] letters for our benefit? “Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands.”

You were nominated recently for your third Academy Award, for your role in “The Savages.” People come up to me and say, “Oh, I’m so sorry you lost.” What did I lose? I didn’t lose anything. I didn’t lose a thing.

That’s sane of you. What do you think of

Marion Cotillard, who just won best actress for her performance as

Edith Piaf?
Of the five of us, that performance was on a whole other level. It just was.

 …

What was your first role? It was Mrs. Claus in a feminist version of a Christmas story. It was called “Mrs. Claus Takes Over.”

And didn’t you heart just ache for her in The Truman Show? I haven’t seen The Savages yet but I know I’m going to love her in it.

I absolutely have been a friend of Laura Linney for years. She is amazing and Savages was wonderful. Working in a facility with tenants that have some form of dementia made me really empathize with this movie and all of the characters in it. So moving.

Of course I meant fan, not friend. I don’t know this woman from a hole in the wall. ::Sigh:: I obviously need more coffee. :)
