White Hat makes huge profits at the public trough. It's no more than public welfare for the corporate elite. If White Hat employees are so concerned about education and education management, let them work within the traditional public education system.
And IMHO, those persons who besmirch teachers and unions have no clue what public service is about.
Incidentally, my best friend of 45 years is a teacher and the Treasurer of the Ohio Federation of Teachers. I am proud to call Dale Pertcheck my friend. He has knowledge of public education, charter schools, the profession of teaching, unionism, and public policy that is beyond compare. Even in areas in which he and I may disagree, I respect his opinions because he bases his thoughts on factual information; well- for the most part, that is -- there are a couple things ---- oops, I go astray. Time for me to go ... bye-e-e.

Teachers do not pay FICA tax because they don't receive social security benefits upon retirement. We pay into a retirement plan called State Teachers Retirement System. As for whether or not we should be exempt from paying FICA, the answer is yes. We will not receive money from it.

Also in regards to accountability issues, i'd invite you to look at testing data from charter schools throughout the state of Ohio. You might be surprised to see how poorly they generally do.

Public schools serve a much larger population with a wide degree of needs such as Limited English Proficient students, students with individual educational plans, etc. Take those expenses, along with transportation costs (which charter schools do not have), sports programs (ditto on charter schools), and other unfunded mandates from the state of Ohio and the federal government and you will see that many school systems spend their taxpayer money quite efficiently.

They only receive 60% of what a public school gets in funding. Is that true are their teachers paid less and do they have less benefits? I am just trying to figure out how they manage to offer the same service for so much less.

Is White House Management a Corporation? No, I do not think so. First paragraph they are an Inc. and second they are Co. They are actually an LLC, they have to pay tax on the profit. The 503c does not pay tax on the tuition or vouchers; they pay a fee to the management company, which centralizes management services. Those services are taxable, if taxed on the receiving of the voucher, then the voucher value would be reduced and LOL given back to government…that provided the voucher. Actually, it would be the state funding the federal government taxing a state voucher system!

What do theses teacher teach?

This is great stuff, if they get less per student and I believe, they get 40% less, and then if they make a profit …we had better take a good look at the pubic schools and figure out what they are doing with all the money?

What matters is the proficiency results, and parent satisfaction.

This is all about the pension and benefits, it must be that they are non-union, it has to be.

I wonder are teacher within the union exempt from paying social security. Government fascinates me; they have all these pension systems out side of the social security system.
I believe that 97% of all Ohio public employees about 845,000 people are exempt from social security tax. Should they be?

There is much on the schedule for State Education Committee Hearings; they need to get it correct, and accountability set on proficiency tests. These schools should be shut down if they cannot meet state requirements, but as far as monetary issues the OFT cannot cry foul if the operate at a 40% premium its ludicrous.
