I feel really old – but it’s really just that I’m older even though I know I really am not old.

How old do I feel? I was attacked by my golf umbrella-sized umbrella on loan from the hotel where I’m staying in Cambridge, MA for the Women, Action & the Media conference.

The folks running the event couldn’t be nicer and I know they will be swarmed, even though I am a one person swarm with all my questions. I’ll write more posts about what it’s like to be a baby boomer watching women who could in fact be my babies get it together on behalf of very important and diverse causes. But for those interested in seeing the venue and how it’s shaping up, take a look:

Another sign of my age, relative to the rest of the attendees? I’ve been sitting here for over an hour because I somehow messed up two attempts at making a less than two-minute video for uploading.

That, and my herniated disk.

I remember that Todd Hoffman first told me about Tracy Russo after K. Danny Glover wrote up an NYT op-ed with a big chart re: which bloggers were attached, by money, to which of 13 political candidates.  My problem with the piece was that there was only one woman mentioned, Julie Fanselow (who at the time was connect to Daily Kos and Red State Rebels).  Other names on the list, nearly 18 months ago, included Peter Daou, Tim Tagaris, Dave Sirota and Jerome Armstrong – all names still in the game (as are others on the same list). After I blogged about that disappointment, Todd e-mailed me to say that Tracy was a highly placed blogger in politics – at the Democratic National Committee.

I’ve since become part of a network of women in the press and technology which Tracy started with some other women (Morra, others, correct me if I’m off on that).  Most recently, Tracy was with John Edwards’ campaign.

Today, she announced that she is back writing political blog entries and we can find them at The Field. Her first post is here and I love the photo. The title of the post is also apt: “Is this thing still going on?”.

Good luck, Tracy – I’ve added you to my RSS and I’m sure others will too.

These are the other nine most nominated female bloggers, in alphabetical order. Many readers will recognize at least a few of the names and realize, “huh? Jill’s on this list, too? Weird…” Indeed.

My segment on Third Rail Radio was recorded on March 5, 2008. Chuck Browder and Jay Scott were great and it was a very undressed experience compared to the BeeBeeCee.  Their blog is here.

Here’s the link. My segment starts a couple of minutes into the recording.

Now – notice – I don’t correct them on the pronounciation of my name – and this is on purpose (wink wink) so that I can make them have me back to correct them! (just kidding guys – but you can have me back).

Thanks again to the hosts. I really enjoyed the time.
