I remember that Todd Hoffman first told me about Tracy Russo after K. Danny Glover wrote up an NYT op-ed with a big chart re: which bloggers were attached, by money, to which of 13 political candidates.  My problem with the piece was that there was only one woman mentioned, Julie Fanselow (who at the time was connect to Daily Kos and Red State Rebels).  Other names on the list, nearly 18 months ago, included Peter Daou, Tim Tagaris, Dave Sirota and Jerome Armstrong – all names still in the game (as are others on the same list). After I blogged about that disappointment, Todd e-mailed me to say that Tracy was a highly placed blogger in politics – at the Democratic National Committee.

I’ve since become part of a network of women in the press and technology which Tracy started with some other women (Morra, others, correct me if I’m off on that).  Most recently, Tracy was with John Edwards’ campaign.

Today, she announced that she is back writing political blog entries and we can find them at The Field. Her first post is here and I love the photo. The title of the post is also apt: “Is this thing still going on?”.

Good luck, Tracy – I’ve added you to my RSS and I’m sure others will too.
