I love my religion but this made me laugh in an “oy” kind of way:

Please Note
Last time to eat Hametz is:
11:54 am SATURDAY

NOT FRIDAY AS INDICATED IN MY MESSAGE
THAT WAS A TYPO. MY APOLOGIES.

HAMETZ MAY BE EATEN UNTIL SATURDAY AT THIS TIME. HOWEVER, MANY HAVE THE CUSTOM, AS I INDICATED, TO USE EGG MATZAH OR GRAPE JUICE MATZAH INSTEAD OF HALLAH TO AVOID THE POSSIBILITY OF CONTAMINATING YOUR PESACH KITCHEN AND DISHES ETC,

Some people do choose to use Hallah for Shabbat and keep it away from dishes, counters etc. but I do not recommend this as it is a recipe for problems :)

Hag Sameah!

Which was followed by another update:

You can also read a responsum on this issue at:
Conservative Responsum: Passover on Saturday Night

Burning of Hametz should be done by 11:54 am FRIDAY and annulment formula should be recited

Last time to eat Hametz is:
10:37 am SATURDAY

Last time to dispose of any last Hametz is 11:54 am SATURDAY (do not burn – throw in trash or flush)

We will be doing a search for hametz tomorrow, I will be making all the hametz-y stuff disappear for the next several days (for the duration of Passover) and I invested a small dowry in kosher l’pesach items (check out this kosher l’pesach tiramatzah instead of tiramasu) to get us through the holiday in a more kosher way than usual. It’s in an effort to add a little something (or, in the case of a holiday like this, take away a little something) more each year to the level of observance.

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship, but once the holiday is here, it’s really nice, even as you’re eating matzah for the eighth day in a row.

We’re having a lot of the food (who am I kidding? We’re having almost all of the food) catered but tomorrow or Friday I’ll be making the matzah caramel crunch and kosher l’pesach rocky road brownies. And special this year for someone in the family with a birthday during the holiday? A special chocolate torte for a birthday cake.

This post from Passover 2006 has some good photos of the crunch, the brownies and what our home looks like when we host the seder.

Chag Sameach.

See that top widget, in the right-hand sidebar?

That’s the handywork of some great folks at BlogHer and God bless them.

Give it a whirl. Here are some basics from its intro:

We’re excited to announce our latest project, BlogHer’s Guide to Political Bloggers, brought to you by BlogHer’s politics team and our friends at Cerado. While we love the many blog-lists that abound of amazing political blogging by women, we got tired of trying to guess which state bloggers are from and/or which party they’re in or leaning toward. That’s why, as a non-partisan guide to women who blog, BlogHer has developed a widget that you can instantly categorize your blog in and find other bloggers. You can:

* Search by state
* Search by blogger’s first or last name
* Search by political party using our color key:
Blue = Democrat
Green = Green
Gray = Undecided
Khaki = Libertarian
Orange = Independent
Purple = Other/Multiparty
Red = Republican

This guide is incredibly easy to use –both to list your blog and then to post on your blog, too. We’ve pre-loaded it with a few bloggers we know, but hey — we don’t want to make a mistake about where you live and what you think! So rather than pour all 700-ish blogs from the BlogHer Politics blogroll into the mix, we think it’s better if you add your blog.

If you still have questions, use the Help button, let me know or go to BlogHer directly.

And most of all? Read and/or blog!

So I’ve been toying around with widgets and here’s some info on the one I added over the weekend, the Global Giving widget that is the second one down on the right-hand sidebar.

Global Giving connects donors to projects. BlogHer has selected five projects to which it’s encouraging people to donate but you are by no means limited to those five or to doing it through BlogHer. It’s just an effort to mobilize and maximize what you can offer.

I made a donation to a project that helps ensure health care provision to refugees of the Darfur region of Sudan. The Global Giving site gives you many, many alternatives for what to give and who to give to. Here’s more on BlogHer’s effort to help save women’s lives worldwide.

As Queen of Spain says, Blog. Act. Donate.

BlogHer co-founder Lisa Stone wrote a great post about the effort here.

And Widgetize for women.
