Modern Esquire is losing his patience, though not fast enough for me. From this Buckeye State Blog post:

WHAT IS THIS OFFICE DOING TO CHANGE THE CULTURE THERE TO A MORE PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH DANN’S SCHEDULER DOESN’T FEEL COMFORTABLE SAYING “F.U.” TO HER BOSS AND HARD DRINKING AND PARTYING IS STANDARD OFFICE CONVERSATION AND AFTER HOURS ACTIVITIES?!?

All uppercase lettering and bold was in the original.

I want to go further and hear from Ohio Democratic Party Chairman, Chris Redfern, but so far – silence. Lest anyone forget, two years ago, when I wrote about how the ODP wasn’t accommodating Eric Fingerhut’s religious observance customs, Redfern called me to ask why I didn’t call him before blogging.

Well – not only hasn’t he called first or called back this time, he hasn’t written either.

How about something from the ODP’s Women’s Outreach effort (listed here under Constituency Issues) ? That would be a start.

Sorry Jill, Chairman Redfern is busy making sure that the Reverend Wright story stays in the news.

“Modern Esquire is losing his patience, though not fast enough for me.”

All caps and bold…. Explanation points, muliple ones, even. Geez, what do you want from Jill? Blood? My first born son? (he’s teething, so I doubt you’d want him.)

Also, I did take “Redfern to task this morning.

The contrast between Dann and Strickland is striking. I haven’t agreed with everything that Strickland has done, but I trust him. I don’t question his integrity. In contrast, I have no confidence in Dann’s judgment and serious doubts about his integrity. He is simply not suited to hold statewide office. He needs to leave before he drags the ticket down with him.

I still don’t understand the monomania with Redfern, but whatever. I’d make 2 points, though:

    1) The AG scandal is about not having a standard of professional ethics. That is the reason Dann is unsuited for the office. And Redfern can’t do much about it; he’s not the AG’s supervisor. All this stuff about how Redfern needs to acknowledge that women are super duper awesome is just something you’ve thrown on because you need to hear it. It’s totally unrelated to this issue.

Women are leaders in science, business, academia, arts & letters, etc. They are professional athletes, even boxers and basketball players. I’m incredulous that you think (or seem to) that the deck is stacked against women. It could be personal experience, I suppose, because I’ve seen female after female among my family and friends succeed scholastically and professionally.

    2) If I asked for a statement from Redfern, it would be that the ODP make a mistake in ignoring the grassroots by backing party loyalist Dann over more popular and better qualified Subodh Chandra, and that ODP won’t do it again.

Just think about how different that office would be with Chandra instead of Dann.
