It cannot be easy for women like Ohio House Minority Leader Joyce Beatty, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, State Auditor Mary Taylor, or former Ohio Senate Minority Leader Teresa Fedor to watch the Ohio Attorney General/Marc Dann hostile work environment situation unfold.
And what about State Senator Capri Cafaro, who was appointed by Dann to fill his state senate seat once he’d won the AG post?
But here we have the Dayton Daily News reporting that:
Franklin County Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy, the Democratic candidate in one of the state’s most closely watched U.S. House races, has called for Democratic Attorney General Marc Dann to resign.
…
“Sexual harassment can’t be tolerated. As a mother of two daughters of about the same age as those in the press accounts, I am appalled that those in power would abuse their authority in such a shameful way. Marc Dann (pictured) should resign and he should do so quickly,” Kilroy said in a statement released Sunday, May 4.
“The actions of the Attorney General and several of his top officials have damaged the trust that people should have in their elected officials.
In service to the people of Ohio, Marc Dann should resign and allow a new Attorney General to take on the important duties of attorney general without the distraction of lawsuits, scandals, and further investigations.”
Kilroy is running for the U.S. House in the 15th District against Republican state Sen. Steve Stivers.
Ironically, I received an unsolicited e-mail from someone close to the Dann situation who suggested that what Columbus needs is a revolt against the old boys club. Mmmmble mmmble damn packing tape.

Funny, you don’t seem like the hat wearing type.
I don’t like packing tape either but what can I tell ya?
What’s packing tape ever to do? Packing tape is your friend…
so will Cafaro and these other women “man up” and call for Dann’s resignation
Having been a resident of Franklin County, I have to admit that I’ve not been especially fond of Kilroy, but I’m pleased that she has spoken up.
I also have to say that I’m not very fond of Stivers, either, having noted the pay-to-play legislation he’s sponsored in the Ohio Senate.
So, in my own mind, I think Kilroy has pulled ahead of Stivers.
Was there any quid pro quo for Cafaro being Dann’s preference as the appointee to the state senate seat he was vacating?
I’d like to know if some current Democrats in Congress are willing to go on the record. Marcy Kaptur? Betty Sutton? Stephanie Tubbs Jones? Dennis Kucinich? Zack Space? Charlie Wilson? Tim Ryan? Sherrod Brown?
The ORP has gone on record calling for Dann’s resignation.
ODP Chair Chris Redfern has been mute, so that’s why I want Democrat officeholders to state their individual opinions on whether Marc Dann should step down immediately.
DJW: you are right sir. I would like to see the same. I think the people of Ohio deserve it.
It seems the situation with Dann is reaching critical mass. He’s only hurting himself and Ohio democrats now by remaining in office.
What does Steve Stivers have to say about this? Or is he too busy window shopping for high school girls?
Why Joan! I don’t know you, but is that how Stivers’ new wife is viewed? Eek.
I haven’t seen anything yet from any Republicans except David Goodman, Kevin Dewine and Jon Husted, and the ORP. There may be others – I just haven’t seen them.
I want to know what Capri Cafaro thinks – since she’s now in Dann’s old senate seat.
Jill,
I’m also curious to hear what Bill O’Neill has to say. O’Neill swore in Dann as AG back in January ‘07, and also Dann was supposed to host a fundraiser for him at John Q’s back on opening day.
