Good stuff, great vid. Chris Matthews is way inappropriate. Thanks for posting, Jill.

I have to admit that I’m distracted by the first pull-quote in the video and this question lingers for me… Are males likewise forever stereotyped upon birth when it’s announced, “It’s a boy” ???

    Hmmm…..

    All the Best,

Thanks, Steve – good point. Yes, I would say they are – but really, it’s the listener who is most affected in how they behave as the child grows, no?

I tell this story a lot – about how when I worked on a kibbutz and was working in the gan or nursery with 3-6 year old boys and girls and the first day I go in and we’re talking and I ask how many boys and how many girls do they have and the two caretakers looked at each other and then looked at me and said, we have no idea. They truly do not see gender that way in terms of “counting” them etc. Very interesting (that was in 1985).
