Thanks LargeBill - I've absolutely never heard of that. I obviously haven't looked it up either - it's not a word I expect to ever be using, I hope!

Jill,

Not saying the term fits, . . . but the word crone is an offensive term used to insult a woman's age, appearance or temperament. The second definition is a woman over 40.

Jill:

I got Strickland's "right" moves here:

    * Voted NO on scheduling permitting for new oil refineries.
    * Voted NO on authorizing construction of new oil refineries.
    * Voted NO on passage of the Bush Administration's national energy policy.
    * Voted NO on raising CAFE standards that included incentives for developing alternative fuels. (I don't understand this one given the fact that he now wants to turn Ohio into some sort of alternative fuels "powerhouse".)
    * Voted YES on prohibiting oil drilling and development in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

In addition, he also voted to support President Clinton's increase in the fuel tax and the BTU tax that comprised the largest tax increase in history.

As a result of Strickland's "right" moves we're now paying outrageous prices for fuel and thousands are losing their jobs because of it.

And you continue to write without civility and I still don't know what a crone is. So everything is good.

Apoligies to Mark McNally - is that the Gordon of the Pain Dealer? If everyone would just use their own names instead of hiding it'd be a lot easier.

If you left a link to your name Mark it would make life easier too - but clearly you are not interested in taking responsibility for yourself or identifying yourself - of course, if I had treated people the way you do, I wouldn't be eager to ID myself either.

Well - it's Jim Trakas saying Strickland made the right moves. If you feel that's out of sync with the "neocon" side of the aisle, you should probably be writing Jim and making sure you vote for him or others like him, or more in line with your preferences.

Strickland's right moves??
Cleveland gets millions for a new Mental Health Facility, while they close down the only forensic center in Dayton ...

Title VI B funds specifically for special needs education & resources for this population....

are being re-directed to address poor test scores from failing schools (Our special ed resource center forced to close it's resourceg library & suspend use of it's facilities for professional development (training for special ed teachers)....

thus federal funds madated to be spent for disability education being used to pay for typical education in only 8 schools on academic watchlist, instead of giving all 56 districts equal access
(so now 70% of all funds for special education are being used to help the schools that can't graduate students, while neglecting the special needs kids in all 56 districts)

Eldercare fiasco - PASSPORT, the Home Care services program was expanded without regard to cost to enroll all who were waiting for limited service slots last year, but now local governments are unable to fund basic education to insure workers are adequately competent to meet the eldercare service demands...

Typical liberal mindset, don't worry about the cost, just offer services which garner votes (and elders vote in droves, and if dependent on government services, they vote predominantly for DEMS -- where have I heard this before?? -- OH yeah, it's in the DNC playbook, enact entitlements to insure a dependent voting population, and demonize the GOP for trying to take away unfunded mandates that should never have been enacted
