I’m with Harold on this one, Chuck. What is your basis for thinking the GOP hasn’t been in long enough to prove anything?

The Republicans have been in control of the Presidency for eight years, and of Congress for six of them. They have had plenty of time to prove what they can do -- and I, for one, do not want to give them any more. I am a lifelong Republican, but the neoconservatives in Washington are neither Republican in the historical sense, nor are they conservatives. What they are offering is nothing more than a prettified form of Fascism. True Republican conservatism seeks to reduce the influence of State and Federal government on the lives of the citizens, balance the budget, and maintain a strong national defense without pursuing military adventures abroad. True conservatism has been betrayed by both parties this year. Our choice is either to sit out the Presidential election, or cast a protest vote for a third-party candidate. Harold

I really don’t think we’ve given the Republicans quite enough time to prove what they can do, I’d say go with McCain and a filibuster proof Republican House and Senate and see how it goes. Jefferson had something to say about the tree of liberty and blood.

Larry – I appreciate that – you are right – however, this particular “joe” has posted a few rather zealous comments that really weren’t appropriate for this blog – several of them in a short time yesterday. I had my school marm hat on.

Joe’s on point. It was stated that without the Democratic party, there’d be no barrier to corruption in gov’t. He’s pointing out that corruption isn’t limited to one party or the other.

like the barrier to the ninety thousand dollars found in the democratic congressman’s freezer. what was the barrier there – the freezer rail? certainly you’ll recall that tammamy hall and cook county illinois are probably the most notoriously corrupt political machines in history – both dominated by democrats. cuyahoga county does itself proud as well when it comes to corrupt democratic politicians. give me a break, man!
