Lou makes a good case for Limbaugh basically being a shock jock although Howard Stern is a lot easier for me to listen to lol.

Lou – that’s a really healthy comment – I totally understand what you mean. I actually cannot listen (though I really do get what you’re describing) because he is just too cruel. The name-calling and ad hominem and attack for attack’s sake stuff is just too mean-spirited for me. But yes – you nailed it re: the attraction.

I get that this is business etc. but I will continue to live and expect behavior that I know a lot of others just don’t believe can ever happen – and that is that corporations will turn down more profit in exchange for more and better life on this Earth for everyone.

Clear Channel obviously doesn’t feel that way.

The thing I’ve never understood about Limbaugh is that he’s uniformly BAD… He can’t make decent arguments to support his positions, he’s mean spirited and rude, juvenile and simplistic.

Yet I listen to him nearly every day even though I don’t agree with anything he says…It’s entertaining in the way that a car wreck is: I can’t turn away and am fascinated that there are people who AGREE with him.

I Mean, if I was going to spend half a billion on propaganda, I’d try to get my money’s worth… Maybe they’re just rewarding him for services already rendered now that the political capital of the right seems spent.

kind of a geek about the radio business I don’t know why! Anyway, John Gorman was one of the movers and shakers of WMMS when it was at it’s creative height – he has a fabulous blog: http://gormanmediablog.blogspot.com/

he explains the industry really well. Also, my friend Mike Shea, Founder of Alternative Press does podcasts, if you go to altpress.com and get into podcasts he did a fabulous interview with Gorman.

Thank god for the Internet where we can find good music without having to listen to clear channel.

I wish I better understood the radio and broadcast industry but it feels as though it’s quite the monopoly – CableVision is the only other group I can think of that I know by name – the Dolan’s right? Who else is there?

just another reason to add clear channel to the boycott list. Which I’ve already been doing for about three years. Same ten songs played 24/7 because Sony or whomever paid them money to do so. They suck on so many levels. The truth is, Limbaugh has a big following, which is why they are willing to pay him the big bucks. And can someone else please buy their billboards plz plz? lol
