This week’s edition of Haveil Havalim #172 (a carnival of Jewish blogs) is being hosted by Daled Amos.  He’s named it, “The Old Fogey Edition” but you’ll have to go here to read his reason why.

Being a part of HH is making me be sure to blog something about Israel and Judaism at least once a week.  With so much going on that I wish I had the time to write about, you’d be surprised that I have to think about it.

    FOUR CONVICTED IN MORTGAGE FRAUD SCHEME
    (HOUSTON, Texas) – Four individuals have pleaded guilty to participating in a mortgage fraud scheme which netted millions in fraudulently obtained loan proceeds, United States Attorney Don DeGabrielle announced today. Louis Kestenbaum and Machell Halstead each entered guilty pleas on Monday, Aug. 18, while Russell Browder previously pleaded guilty on June 9, 2008, and Jannice Bonner on April 21, 2008. They each admitted they conspired to commit mail and wire fraud during a scheme to defraud mortgage lenders. Each defendant faces a maximum of 20 years in a federal prison and a $250,000 fine. Joel Kestenbaum a son of Louis Kestenbaum said the family is in shock but had no further comment
