Thank you, Plain Dealer.

I’m particularly interested in knowing what the interests are with the Juvenile Justice Center project and this raid because I can tell you, from when I worked in the current building on E. 22nd nineteen years ago? They needed a new one before that – we were already over capacity in the detention center and I still remember the corridors and locked doors I had to go through to get to my little space for the kids I worked with.

Here’s a pdf of the search warrant, an attachment and the items taken.

Has anyone figured out, if Dimora goes, can Debbie Sutherland switch to a race for his seat? Would his seat just be filled? What happens? I haven’t seen that scenario blogged yet but Political Science 216 has a countdown on Dimora’s demise.

It would depend on when Dimora’s seat would become vacant. If it happens after a certain date (not sure when that is, either late August or early September), then there wouldn’t be an election this year and the appointee would serve the rest of the unexpired term (until 2010).

If, however, the seat becomes vacant prior to that cutoff date, then there would be an election this year for the unexpired term. I don’t think Sutherland would be able to switch slots because she ran in the primary in the spring.

In either case, the Dem Executive Committee would appoint Dimora’s replacement.

Seems like the kind of guy who wont just up and resign.

You really haven’t lived until the day you’re served with a federal warrant.

Ben – I don’t know – I think it really depends on what is at stake and for how many people and just how selfish is each one of them – who will they sacrifice and can they make peace with themselves? Not to mention the example they set.

I’ll never forget how that Michael Flory, the MI Young Republican guy who sexually assaulted a women 11 years younger than him when they were in Cleveland for a big young GOP bash and he wanted leniency because he wanted to be able to be a father to his young child. I just had to shake my head and say, huh?

Likewise anyone in this sting who is in fact guilty – they should be doing the really right thing, not the delusionally right thing.

I heard something on the news today about someone in the military who raped and assaulted a whole bunch of women and is supposed to have the death penalty but keeps appealing and I just kept thinking, “You have GOT to be KIDDING ME! This guy KNOWS what he did and STILL he puts it off.”

Talk about personal responsibility. Is there really anyone who can’t take more personal responsibility somewhere in their life?

Scott – I will be happy not to live out that life, and still muster through. :)
