how long will joe not be permitted to post?
EVERYONE is being moderated - not just you. I did not take your IP and put it in moderation - your comments show that you do know how to contribute and engage and be humorous without needless and detrimental distractions that are obnoxious and unnecessary and very personal. But I’m not subjecting the commenters who always know what the limits are of good taste and debate to your wind change style of commenting.
What happens is that the conversation slows down because I am not at my computer 24/7 - so when I get to the comments to moderate them because I’m here, I will - otherwise, no conversation.
It’s really unfortunate - there are some great conversations and you’ve been part of some of them but then you go and comment in ways that are just plain useless here.
So - this is the choice I’ve made for now.
Sorry it came to this, Jill. I’m sure you don’t want to act as a censor or to compromise free speech, etc.
But in my 18 years of experience of online communities, the healthiest ones are those with some sort of moderating in place. The “wisdom of crowds” is not much of a filter compared with the intelligence of a fair-minded educated human being. Just my humble opinion.
i’m just very passionate about my point of view and believe in the truth and sincerity of my comments. i will try to ratchet down the “tone” in the future. as for my personal admiration for you, it is elevated to an even higher notch and my level of intrigue has been increased exponentially. hope this is taken in the nice way that it was intended to be taken.
sorry it came to this……hopefully this is only short term.
Jill as you know I had this same sort of situation- and with great difficulty cam to the conclusion my blog would not enable those behaviours…. I can only tell you that it has worked for me ….. eventually the trolls and dolls and those whose names don’t appear on any sort of birth certificate stop coming and I spend less time moderating than I did dealing with them in the first place… Loraine
Moderation is a tough call, but it’s worth doing to send a message every now and then. Rough debate is okay (even entertaining at times) but lately you seem to be getting a lot of input from people whose debating skills stop at “Vinny eats it.”
Thanks again for the support. I am glad people “get it” re: why I’m moderating for now. Hopefully it can end soon.
It’s a shame but I understand it and yes I hope you don’t have to do it for long. People need to realize no one learns anything when discussions get cut off and that can happen when the kind of comments you will be possibly shutting down get posted.

Too, too funny, Reignman
