Well - this isn't a direct answer - I'm still using jetlag as an excuse.

But right now, when I think media, I cannot exorcise from my mind, based on two weeks in Israel (and having lived there for a year before) just how shamefully skewed not just the opinion but the scope of content is that the American media chooses to place in what it publishes.

This is a roundabout way of saying that what I want, though I don't know if this is reasonable or too Utopian, is for those of us who produce news, not only consume it, to work harder at distributing and reaching the news consumers, whereever they are, with as broad a range of facts and opinion as possible.

If that means seeding it into atmosphere, so be it. If that means developing very niche-like products, so be it.

But for me, right now, the evidence and obviousness with which we can see just how filtered content and slant and opinion is screams to me to free the news.

How's that for passion? :)

Glad you think it's a good question, Jill. What's your view on it? I can't make up my mind.
