Nothing brings home the reality of that one of your children is closing in on college like seeing High School all over the documents brought home.

So, while that’s on my mind, here’s the most recent U.S. News and World Report release on the top schools in the country.

I’m not finding the chart all that easy to use in terms of selecting regions and categories, but Case Western Reserve ranked the highest in the national category of all Ohio schools and came in tied at #41.

The site also has many links to many other college-related issues like financial aid and admissions info.  I’m going back to avoiding this topic.

I looked though the list. I hope you are rich or you get a scholarship if you want to attend most of the higher ranked schools.

There is a stunning lack of public schools on the list, particularly when you drill down to masters and bachelors institutions by region. Something odd in the methodology that ignores a Kent, U. Cincy or U. Akron in favor of Lake Erie College, imo.

[Yes, it says colleges, not universities and colleges for those rankings...but still, why focus on that?]
