One WLST commenter said that to refer to someone as a hockey mom is intended to mean that someone is tough.
If that’s the case, then help me make sense of the incident Jake Tapper of ABC recounts:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin sent out a fundraising solicitation today that charged that “the Obama/Biden Democrats have been vicious in their attacks directed toward me, my family and John McCain.”
I asked spokespeople of the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee just which “Obama/Biden Democrats” they’re referring to.
The response I got was that Obama spokesman Mark Bubriski erroneously attacked Palin as a supporter of Pat Buchanan.
That’s it. That’s the evidence.
An attack on Palin herself.
In other words, they can’t name one person affiliated with the Obama-Biden campaign who attacked the Palin family.
But she made the charge anyway, to help raise money.
As I wrote earlier today, Governor Sarah Palin enjoys throwing barbs and the sound of her voice being sarcastic. But she doesn’t seem to like the sound of the truth. If she really is and has been always so distant from Pat Buchanan – but yet she wants to anger up a crowd and incite them to give her money to defend herself against such attacks – then shouldn’t we doubt just how tough she is?
Unless of course you can’t say that about being distant from Buchanan because it’s not true.

Obama and Biden don’t have to attack her directly. They have the media do their dirty work for them otherwise known as “the Obama/Biden Democrats.”
There is a difference between being associated with Pat Buchanan and having identical views to Pat Buchanan. On my blog, I’ve already said that Obama should not be viewed as having the same views as Rev. Jeremiah Wright, yet that association was much more intimate than any Palin association with Buchanan.
Should I fault the majority of Democrats in Cuyahoga County for having an association with Jimmy Dimora, an officeholder I deem to be unethical to the core?
It’s a small world after all. If we were each to be totally disassociated with every unsavory character on the planet, we’d all be hermits, so I think this line of reasoning should be abandoned.
I worry that you are becoming obsessed with pelting Palin. I think Obama and Biden are not incorporating attacks on Palin into their strategy because they feel it’s not the most effective way to achieve victory. Their preferred strategy is to state that McCain has no new economic solutions, perhaps tweaking McCain for not picking Romney. Do you think the economic issue strategy will be more fruitful for the Obama-Biden ticket? Or are you sure that continuing the onslaught against Palin is the best way to go?
Does Obama/Biden Democrats = Obama Campaign?
If not, what she says is true. It’s odd that feminists don’t seem to mind the fact that she’s been repeatedly criticized for being a working mother.
Palin did not back Buchanan. She backed Forbes. The story was debunked by Saturday, but Obama’s campaign still put out the charge, specifically invoking the Nazi reference. I have not seen any withdrawal or acknowledgement that it was a false statement.
