You can read Republican nominee for Vice President, Alaksa Governor Sarah Palin’s first radio address for the ticket here. Most of it reiterates exactly what’s already been said but here’s a few lines from the conclusion:

Politics isn’t just a game of clashing parties and competing interests. The right reason to enter politics is to challenge the status quo, to serve the common good, and to leave this nation better than we found it. No one expects us to agree on everything. But we are expected to govern with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and a servant’s heart. And I pledge to all Americans that I will carry myself in this spirit as Vice President of the United States. Thank you for listening.

Well, I’ll just let everyone think about it for themselves.

    More damning evidence.

I wish more politicians felt the way Sarah Palin does.

Since you stated that Palin cut funding to a teen center, I thought you might be interested in this and since I believe you also mentioned her cutting funding to special education? This might interest you.

It’s interesting how some of the MSM can get some of this so wrong, and then not bother to issue corrections.

This is a very scary time. I am more convinced than ever that the McCain-Palin ticket is not he course America needs to be on.
Where the fuck are all the smart people? They better show up to the polls otherwise…stupidity will continue to run amuck for another 4 years.

Yeah, you know - this is why that pipeline idea is such a big deal to me because I believe really strongly that we get what we support - and if we don’t help people we would want to develop into candidates get into the pipeline, and be prepared and qualified, then we have no one but ourselves to blame.

On the other hand, I think this duplicity of Americans is not new - you know, saying they believe one thing, but then behaving or unknowingly supporting behavior that is contradictory to those beliefs.

I’m sure I’m guilty of it too somewhere along the line - but this is what integrity is about - are you, are we, internally consistent.

This is why when we catch politicians who’ve run on family values messing around on spouses, it’s pretty hard to take because of the hypocrisy.

I believe we all want to be good but we can sometimes convince ourselves of ANYTHING when certain other things might be at stake, and that can blind us to our own hypocrisy. I’m 100% sure I’m not immune from this but that’s kind of the love hate part of the blog - people can challenge - and sometimes, they do a good job at letting me know my faults.

    Thanks, Lisa Renee.

No, actually, I haven’t written about the special ed funding issue, but I did hear Kathleen Hall Jamieson last night on Bill Moyers (here’s the transcript) make the point about Soledad O’Brien taking as true assertions that hadn’t been checked yet (beyond emails and blogs) re: the special ed cuts and that within four hours, Hall Jamieson had uncovered that the budget item simply had been moved. She was very clear in stating how wrong it is to put information out in that way because of how it smears candidates and absolutely should not be media practice, at the very least. (It was a great program.)

Maybe you were thinking about the exceprt of a post by Dooce in this post?

In the teen center post, I noted that it was unclear whether it was infrastructure or operating budget so that is indeed helpful for that post - I’m going to copy your link to an update there - thank you.

I can add that on Thursday’s Sound of Ideas w/Dan Moulthrop, a reporter from Alasak Public Radio was on and I got through on calling in and specifically asked if she could offer information about Palin’s budget priorities - both what she favored and what she cut. You can listen to the response here (it’s about…I think maybe 10 mins in? I was the first, second or third call I think) but the gist is that she cuts in ways to shrink government, and sticks to funding what’s required (like mandatory education), according to the reporter. The reporter could not think of any examples of what Palin tends to favor or support, specifically.

PS for Lisa Renee - I moved the quote because the code got funky but I didn’t edit it otherwise.

I don’t read Dooce, it was right here and I believe the special ed comment was also made, perhaps in one of the live blog debates.

Jill, edit away when ever you need to.

    :-)

I cannot imagine ever having to edit anything you write, Lisa Renee - but I suppose I should never say never. :)

We rely on the media as a source at times, there isn’t enough time in the day to fact check them on everything. When I came across this earlier that both had been proven not true? I remembered you had written about the one for certain, so I thought you’d be interested in what was being reported.

I don’t post at Blogher anymore but I do stop by from time to time to read.

I don’t read Dooce either. :) But I must have received three or four emails from other bloggers to that particular post and she talks about the special needs of her child.

The comment on BlogHer about the teen moms, I don’t see a reference to the special ed but I was arguing the point that we need more info before judging exactly what was going on - it didn’t look good. So that cite you give above is great - it exactly fills in that question (but I also posted about it on WLST so that’s what I want to update too).

The live-blogs I did were on The Chief Source - though I lurked at the BlogHer ones a bit - I think I left a few comments but for the most part didn’t participate.

Take it from a shrink, Sarah Palin has a serious personality disorder. She is too f’ing stupid and blind to see how she is being used and manipulated. How her entire family is being used. She deserves what she is going to get. McCain exhibits the initial onset of dementia. He is nearly as old as my dad. I love my dad but there is noo way in hell I would want him running anything, let alone the US of A. Their large flock is a group of ignorant, selfish, shortsighted, and frightened sheep. In fact that whole RNC was downright disturbing. They truly think that they can say whatever, whenever, make up facts, change history, remake events, point blame at everyone else and then sit down to a steak dinner, red wine, and chuckle. I can’t believe that they honestly believe what they say.Unfortunately I think they do believe it. Delusional, bordering on psychotic. Oy

Take it from a layman, a shrink who calls someone “f’ing stupid” is hardly speaking in a professional capacity.

Hey Cousin David - I never had a chance to say thanks for reading and commenting and, well, when I put my MSW hat on, um - well - I might not use the exact same words as you, but I wouldn’t disagree too much with you opinion.

    L’shanah tovah.
