Sounds exciting, huh?  Looks even more exciting!

Damn – you’d think with an African-American on the top of the Dem ticket and a conservative women from Alaska on the GOP ticket, they might make some last minute additions, yes?

No?

Sigh.  I like Dennis Eckart – he was my law school graduation speaker.  And Rob Frost has always been helpful to me when I’ve asked me anything.  I have nothing against Ted Henry, I don’t know Jerry Hruby – though the name is familiar and Jimmy Dimora? Well, is there anything that hasn’t been said already that I could add? Don’t think so.

Here’s the rest:

ELECTION PREVIEW 2008
Wednesday, September 10, 2008
11:30 am Registration * 12 Noon Program & Luncheon

Jimmy Dimora, Chairman, Cuyahoga County Democratic Party
Rob Frost, Chairman, Cuyahoga County Republican Party
Dennis E. Eckart, Obama Campaign Rep. & Former Member of Congress
Mayor Jerry Hruby, NEO Regional Chair, McCain for President Ohio Committee & Mayor of the City of Brecksville
Moderated by: Ted Henry, Anchor, NewsChannel 5

I thank the people who’ve invited me to go but I’m so disappointed that the organizers can’t field a more diverse panel.  Seriously.

    My observations:

In general: As you said…sound bites, complete with factual mistatkes from both sides.

Dimora – Every time he spoke I thought I was I in some kind of Goodfella’s movie.

Eckart – First time I’ve seen him speak and was quite impressed with his poise and class.

Hruby – If he was the best the Republicans could muster as “speaker number two” we (meaning me and my fellow Republicans) deserve to lose in Cuyahoga County.

Frosty – Much younger than I thought he would be. Decent speaker.

I wanted so bad to ask Dimora, who early on blamed the poor economy in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County over the last 8 years on the Bush administration if he would accept any of the responsibility for the decline of both Cleveland and Cuyahoga County over Clinton’s 8 years in office. But alas…given the table I was sitting at, I actually exercised good judement and shut up.

Russ – thanks again for the invite – sorry I got there so late – we’ll have to see what the WaPo prints from their interview with me before we’ll know if I made a good judgment call.

It was very interesting – I like Dennis Eckert though I know some aren’t so fond of him. Dimora was very interesting!! I have met him in person in years and the two GOP fellas? Well – in person, Frost is very kind, I’ve never had a problem with him. But the partisanship – oy.

I don’t know. Why are people so afraid to lose power or share power? I just have never really gotten that.
