I can't help but think that independents and even some republicans are going to say enough is enough, and Obama will wind up winning. This campaign is so shameful. The comments McCain made today about the economy are baffling and scary. Does he know what he is saying? And is it scarier if he does or doesn't?

I agree with what you say about the free market with less distortions. Good phrase and smart economics. Please let us get through this with an Obama win.

From Obama's speech on economics:

"It also means that investment goes to the companies that are best connected instead of the ones that are most productive. Economics 101 tells us special interest politics distorts the free market."

I agree wholeheartedly with that. I think McCain does also. When I look through the proposals of both Obama and McCain, I see that both want to improve transparency and both want more regulation to guard against fraud. What I DON'T hear from Obama is a strategy to undo the past legislation that benefited the best connected companies, which, in turn, cause the market distortions. What I DO hear in the McCain reform message is the undoing of the kind of regulation that worked to the benefit of the best connected.

So, if there is an area of Obama economic policy that I would like more specific information about, it would be whether there is specific legislation Obama is determined to roll back in order to arrive at a freer marketplace with less distortions. After all, my own thoughts on health care were centered on this very topic.
