The sexist treatment to which Sarah Palin is being subjected continues to come from people who are supposedly in her corner and, I assume, want us to judge her on her maverickiness, her reformer abilities, her standing up to big boys and old party people, her political savvy, her energy and energy knowledge. Frankly, if the McCain and RNC strategists are looking that closely at the photo of Palin on the Newsweek cover, I think that tells us pretty much all we need to know: they really do and they really do want us to judge a book by its cover. They don’t want anyone looking inside. And there is nothing pro-woman about that.
By the way, anyone wonder why no men were in the discussion?
And lest we forget, where were all the pro-women Republicans when The New Republic cover of Hillary Clinton came out?

No worries, Sarah. In about three weeks, you won’t have to worry about having your face and/or body on national magazine covers.
And we won’t have to worry about seeing you behind the Presidential podium!
I’m hoping, re: the podium but I bet, just as with Clinton, the McCain/Palin campaign and choice of VP is going to be one for the history books, win or lose. Way too close to completely unpack it yet though. Thanks for commenting.
FOX news is quickly catching up on “Most Shocking”- all we need is dashboard videos and a staccato voice over. Laughable.
It’s the damn them if they do, damn them if they don’t mentality. If the Photoshopped her to look like Angelina, they’d be all a gushing.
Sarah, Plain and Tall-tale teller.
she got an 800 on her SAT’s btw. Not even GWB did that badly.
John – thanks for reading and commenting. Is that actually true re: her SAT score?? I’ve not read that but I haven’t been looking for it either.
What an absolutely SHOCKING allegation. I got that magazine, I didn’t notice any flaws on her at all. Andrea Tantaros is nuts – she must be much younger than I. Why are we talking about her LOOKS!!!!??? I’m considering cancelling my subscription to Newsweek because they keep paying Karl Rove to write opinions, which is nauseating.
Hi Ellen – thanks for reading and commenting. I know it’s real, but the way the Fox anchor even introduces the segment, it’s like from Saturday Night Live. It’s one thing if this were The View or a sitcom or a local cable show with high school queenbees and wannabees.
But for a campaign that is BEGGING us to take Sarah Palin seriously, I cannot for the life of me understand why they would okay such a segment.
If, indeed, Palin imperfections can be seen in the cover picture….maybe the publishers were suggesting that the closer America gets to Palin, the less attractive she is.
