Whoa – she’s calling it illegal, before even telling us what it is? You bet. Because in the 2002 elections, someone went to jail for what is now being suggested to millions of Ohioans. Ohio Daily Blog explains the scam:
Right wingers aligned with the McCain campaign have sent out a mass email message to so-called “values voters,” lying about Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner and directing all recipients to call the Secretary of State and seven county Boards of Elections. (Full text of the message after the break.) As a result, telephone lines have been jammed and elections officials have been hampered in carrying out their duties, while early voting and critical preparations for the election are underway.
Interfering with the conduct of elections is a crime under Ohio law, and it is broadly defined:
§ 3599.24. Interference with elections.(A) No person shall do any of the following:
. . .
(3) Attempt to intimidate an election officer, or prevent an election official from performing the official’s duties; …
Ohio Daily Blog provides specific steps Ohioans can take to call attention to the call to call, if you will. The initial email sent to “values voters” asking them to make these disruptive and potentially illegal calls is after the jump.

A U.S. District Court ruled late yesterday that Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner violated federal election laws by not taking adequate steps to verify new voter registrations!
The court called it “a serious problem” and ordered Brunner to take immediate action.
But Brunner – a Democrat – is fighting to have the ruling overturned! The radical voter registration group ACORN admitted just this week that its staffers regularly commit voter registration fraud right here in Ohio. And there’s more… Barack Obama was a community organizer, attorney, and leadership trainer for ACORN.
