We congratulate the pro-choice Obama-Biden team on their victory, and are thrilled to report to you that the 111th Congress will have 91 women serving in the Senate and the House. This will increase women’s representation in Congress from 16% to record-breaking 17%.

We are particularly proud to share with you the victories of some of Women’s Campaign Forum’s endorsed candidates who ran as challengers or in open seat federal races:

    The birds are singing, the weather is wonderful and I guess a percentage point increase is better than it going the other way!

    I’m pretty sure the Commisioners race would have been at least tighter for Ms. Sutherland if she had chosen to run against Tim Hagan instead of Peter Lawson Jones. She might have even won, who knows.

    Wow. One percent, at that rate perhaps in my granddaughter’s lifetime it will be what it should be, actually reflective of the make up of America. Which includes women of all cultures, political ideologies and backgrounds…
