I’m not at this Restoration Weekend, but Atlas Shrugs was. Here’s her live-blog of a panel at Restoration Weekend called, “The Future of Israel and Implications for the West.” Here’s an excerpt from Yaron Brook‘s portion:

This thought for soul searching Republicans – the most important thing we must do is revivethe idea of American exceptionalism What is it that makes this country as great as it is. it is not being taught in the schools, spoken of in the media — we need to create an educational program. We need to give them those words, those ideas.
If we are going to fight Islamic totalitarianism we must believe in ourselves.
Earth to right-wing hawks? “Victory”? Could you define that, please?
Encourage Israel to destroy Hamas? Destroy Hezbollah?
Define, please. Enough rhetoric. Call a spade a spade – what do you want done, and with what possible international law justification?
This egging on has got to stop. And this engendering of Obama as an anti-American president, let alone “the most” is an act that demonstrates the I know you are but what am I school of thought even better than the McCain/Palin campaign did.
Caroline Glick, according to the live-blog, is even more harsh:

This is in a nutshell what we will be getting from the Obama administration. We cannot soft pedal this…

The Palestinians are not interested in statehood. The US must understand this. We cannot adopt the failed policies of a “two state solution” that has led to so much We have to prepare the intellectual framework.

Glick’s fear of individuals who have no input, control or contribution to the foreign policy of an Obama administration leaves me speechless.

They keep handing Obama a policy and I have not seen one yet, have we seen one yet?
If Clinton becomes the secretary of state that would be only if she can be more than a mouth piece. In that we could assume and only assume with certain degree of certainty that Clinton and Obama’s foreign policies and Bidden as well must match.
Are they predefined? Only in degrees, I doubt they will include or define an axis’s of evil.
I am pragmatic, I would say that sitting between the Arabs and the Jews would not be that much fun. It may be that Obama actually is attempting to torture Hillary by openly announcing her as a consideration. She may be saying under her breath he got me again, this one is a smart bugger.
The solution if it exist must be an Arab and Jew solution, good luck with that.
I believe this administration will be more careful, but keep in mind the right is staunch and pious, and they only respect the same. All of the right will and do discount liberalism. That be Jewish, Christian or Muslim. They can co-exist but interpret any dissension from the mantra of there faith often violently. The convent cannot be expected to accept the whore house. Not sure if they would conspire to blow it up though?

Nice people get punished for stepping out of the conservative roles, the conservatives often say, they care nothing about how you choose to live and that you only do not throw it in their faces. If your mother says what did you do last night…you do not say I got laid. Unless you like to torment your mother.
The pain and discomfort most feel is only in their heads. Imagine a person that feels guilty for saying god dam and then you French kiss your same sex partner in front of them…when they are obviously offended then you flip them off.
I think teach the children to think, study cause and affect, and root causes. To teach them to perceive and not to judge? Individual is a dirty word to a conservative, individual is to them is an infidel.
That’s another battle…what kind of liberal crap are they teaching my kids these days.
This is all very relative, because the strength of fundamentals is not anti-Semitic its anti west and liberal ideals. If you say my friend we can all work together, that’s foreign thinking to them, unless you eat your grapefruit with the same spoon they use. Chances are they are not feeling you.
So to address them as in this article, is to address like with like.
We loose economically because of this polarization, people will argue abortion and homosexuality standing in the breadline.
Anti America, its a melting pot. It’s civil and progressively liberal. It separate church and state. Will the real anti America please stand up, no forget that they need to sit down and shut the hell up.
I am concerned though about how crazy TV is and that we sell it all over the world. How does the world perceive us, watch TV. They see us as decadent and crazy, they say kill them before it spreads, in the extreme. We provide them the rope to hang us with.
I watched an Iranian film the other evening, children of heaven…totally innocent and yet entertaining. Can we get clue? Can we have a conscious for what we present and why? If you sell it in another country then consider the culture, do not throw it in their faces.
Can we please stop attempting to change the world, could something evolve beyond us, without us?

Oengus is worried about our TV image as morally corrupt weak people? Compared to the rest of the world does he have any idea how constipated we really appear to be, neglecting Iran and such.
