That’s all I have to say after listening to him praise his state’s new budget with $13 billion in tax increases as a “great” budget, praise President Obama’s stimulus package and tell South Carolina Republican Governor Mark Sanford that if he doesn’t want the stimulus money for his state’s residents, give him the money:

What a good statement of how bipartisan action should work!

I’ll be watching quite curiously to see whether Gov. Sanford follows through with refusing federal funds. South Carolina certainly has some infrastructure in need of work; with a child entering kindergarten in the fall, I’m less than thrilled with the massive cuts to the state’s education budget.

    Very bipartisan of Arnold.

I’m impressed with any state governor who won’t partake in the stimulus and thus pass on all that pork to our children’s children. The state needs the money but stand firm on the principle behind it. We got in this mess from wild insane spending, spending more is not a solution, its much of the same. It’s so simple yet people just don’t think, they just believe what they are told. Until we start becoming thinkers rather than puking out the lies, we’ll never get out of this mess.

    Jill,

I would say God Bless both governors. Each governor has the right to lead their state as they see fit. Each state likewise has the right to take or not take money from the federal government.

Personally, I would like the 8th largest economy in the world to focus on some spending reductions as well as the tax increases, but not living in California, I have no right to do anything but comment on the situation.

Tim – I’m guessing they let you out of Bogota? lol Welcome home. ;)

You are of course right – not living in CA, AK, IN or SC etc., it’s not my bottom line there except to the extent that that whole Rick Santelli thing applies re: us paying for our neighbors’ this that or the other thing. Obviously my comment on the situation is that I would hope, as you say, that each governor does what’s best for their state – but for me, that would not include doing what is politically expedient for a political career. My comment is that some of these governors are mixing up these things.

Ultimately, their voters will let them know what their comment is on such stuff. :)
