There must be a God.

From CQ Politics:

Minnesota physician Maureen Reed could be a force to be reckoned with in the race for Michele Bachmann’s 6th District seat.

Reed, a Democrat, raised $232,000 in the two months since declaring her candidacy in early May, virtually all from individual donors.

That nearly matches Bachmann, who has become something of a conservative darling and liberal pariah over her two terms in Congress and thus enjoys a far higher national profile than Reed. She raised $285,000 in the second quarter of the year. And it trumps fellow Democratic contender and 2008 nominee El Tinklenberg, who totaled just $55,000 in receipts.

With Reed’s fundraising base, she may be tempted to run on the Independent line should she not win the Democratic party’s nomination. The prospect of her winning the nod was complicated by news this week that state Sen. Tarryl Clark is preparing to launch a run. Eric Black at MinnPost.com wrote Wednesday that he was “confident” Clark would seek the party’s nomination to take on Bachmann.

Please please pretty please.

Well, if Reed runs as an independent, Bachmann is re-elected. Alas.
