I get Jill’s point about there being a dearth of songs for our holiday and even though this new one is a tad corny it’s the thought that counts, regardless of the source (I guess?).

Well you know if it’s worth saying once……. But, yes I have always been suspicious of Jew-loving Christians. I have friends who like/love me and also like other people who happen to be Jewish but not in that cat-licking-her-lips self interest way that often comes to my mind in this matter

As for the standing in front of the tank thing, my daughter is not only intelligent and beautiful, she is also correct. I am nothing if not a survivor who would hope to live to fight another day.

Well, my mother said the exact same thing to me barely 12 hours ago – and she said it like three times (didn’t you, Mom?).

I don’t know – you know – I have to put cynicism and suspicion aside just for the 2:29 it takes to watch that. I have to.

Then, I’ll go back to lambasting stuff like Andrew Breitbart’s “Big Jerusalem” project – now that kind of stuff really, really concerns me. That’s the kind of alleged caring, love and attention I can do without.

Shalom Jill, When Christians in general, and cultish Christians in particular, profess their celebration and love of the Jewish people, I get very, very skittish. One aspect of this attempt at a connection between Judaism and Mormonism that I've not heard anyone talk about is that the texts on which Hanuka is based are not part of our scriptural canon. I and II Maccabees is part of our apocrypha and Christians would like to be able to use this text as a bridge to better legitimize their own scriptural tradition as a newer testament (covenant) directly linked to our Tanach (Torah, Prophets and Writings).
